Berlin, Germany – November 12, 2025 — Berlin is set to transform digital research by linking Charlottenburg’s technology quarter and Humboldt University through a pioneering quantum internet testbed, scheduled for completion by the end of 2025. The initiative, led by Deutsche Telekom’s T-Labs in partnership with Qunnect, recently achieved a milestone with 17 days of uninterrupted, high-fidelity entangled photon transmission across 30 kilometres of fibre. Researchers highlight the project’s potential to enable ultra-secure communications and foster collaboration between academic and industrial partners. The testbed’s integration with Berlin’s existing fibre network marks a significant step towards scalable, quantum-safe telecommunications for the city’s scientific and business communities.
