High school senior Madelyn Krestul spent 2025 fighting for the right to read as Senior Ambassador for Code Read

LOS ANGELES, CA, December 31, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ — High school senior Madelyn Krestul spent 2025 fighting for the right to read as Senior Ambassador for Code Read, a nonprofit organization founded in 2016 by her sister, Mackenzie Krestul. With Madelyn’s passionate advocacy, Code Read donated more than 6,000 new books to children and families across Los Angeles County this year.

In her role, Madelyn strengthened community partnerships, facilitated book distributions, and encouraged volunteer efforts from her peers to ensure books reached children in underserved communities. Book donations were delivered to Title I schools in Palmdale and LAUSD, Head Start programs, Los Angeles Family Housing, Lancaster Family Court, the Department of Children and Family Services, pediatric clinics, and KAUSE.

Madelyn’s service reflects a strong commitment to community engagement and educational equity. By dedicating her time and leadership to Code Read’s mission, she helped expand access to free, high-quality books for children who may not otherwise have them. “As the Senior Ambassador for Code Read, I have experienced firsthand how important access to books can be,” said Madelyn Krestul, “Seeing children light up when they choose a book of their own is an incredible experience.” Her work is essential at a time when literacy in America has reached a hundred year low, according to the National Center for Education Statistics.

Code Read promotes literacy and a love of reading by providing free books to students facing barriers to access. Since its founding in 2016, the organization has provided nearly 70,000 new books to thousands of children throughout Southern California.

Madelyn Krestul’s contributions as a Senior Ambassador emphasize the essential role students play in addressing community needs and supporting nonprofit initiatives.

Code Read is a youth-led nonprofit dedicated to improving literacy levels by providing new books to children in need. Founded by Mackenzie Robin Krestul, Code Read believes in the power of reading to transform lives and is committed to making books accessible to all.
